Principles Communications Group celebrates 25 years

25-year birthday-celebration

Principles Communications Group – – is celebrating 25 years in the world of advertising. With two of the original founders, Chris Goodwin and Bernie May, still at the helm of the award-winning business, today the Group boasts a portfolio of clients representing high profile global, national and regional brands across a range of sectors.

In addition to the big 25, Principles Communications Group is also celebrating a number of other key milestones across its specialist marketing disciplines. Principles Research has reached its 21st birthday, digital arm MadeByPi celebrates its 15th year at the forefront of its industry and online marketing division, Fusion Unlimited, marks its first successful decade.

To commemorate this landmark anniversary, the Group is making a pledge to raise £25,000 during its 25th anniversary year, donating all monies raised to a number of local charities that will be nominated by its employees in due course.

Chris Goodwin, co-founder of the business comments on the secret of the Group’s success: “We are extremely proud of this achievement. Our success can be attributed to the Group consistently adapting and evolving and embracing economic, industry and client changes over the last quarter of a century. We started the business with the ethos of delivering the very best marketing solutions for our clients through the most appropriate communication channels, and this still stands today. Through our results-driven approach, we have maintained long-term relationships with our clients, steady year-on-year growth and consistent profitability.”

Co-founder, Bernie May said: “In today’s fast changing world, communicating with customers will become more diverse and we will continue to adapt to change, offering clients the solutions they need through a combination of evolving channels.

“I believe that our future will be focused on all things digital, including online research, social media campaigns and mobile relationships. This will be achieved within the realms of our clients’ changing needs in a much more challenging online environment. We will continue to offer an integrated approach by embracing the best of both traditional and new media channels. How they work together seamlessly is the key, with accountability being under even greater scrutiny in today’s tougher economic environment.”

Over the years, Principles Communications Group has established a reputation for maintaining long-term client relationships and delivering significant growth for those clients through the lifetime of each relationship. At the very beginning in 1986, the client list included Seven Seas, Dalepak, Wallace Arnold and National Breakdown; now Green Flag. Principles was, in fact, the mastermind behind the £4million sponsorship deal struck between National Breakdown and the England national football team in 1994; the very first sponsorship deal of its kind.

Today’s Group clients include 4Kids Entertainment, BBC, Morrisons, Dollond & Aitchison, Disney, Hallmark, Halfords, HSBC, JD Williams, McCain, Symington’s and Vertbaudet, amongst others.

The Principles Communications Group was founded in 1986 in Leeds, during a time when the UK was recovering from the effects of a global recession. The company started with an ambitious business plan and made a profit in its first year, going against the norm for a start-up business at the time. It has gone from strength to strength since then, outliving a number of its competitor advertising agencies over the last two and a half decades.

The company employs 106 marketing and digital experts. It is still the largest independent marketing agency outside of London, specialising in strategic and brand communications, digital and online services, advertising and media buying. Brands include MadeByPi, Fusion Unlimited, Principles Agency, Principles Research and Principles Media.
